Beta 0.1.0¶
First Evaluation Build · 7 September 2026
First Evaluation Build. This is the opening public cut of ASTROLAB as a Digital Mission Engineering platform: one mission tree, system-level analyses, live 3D, and ReportGraph — on Web and Desktop, sharing the .astrolab document.
Evaluate it on a Web Trial (no credit card) or on Desktop. Start with Create your first mission, then LEO Optical Satellite or LEO Radar Tasking.
Catalogue of all trains: Release notes.
Highlights¶
- Shared mission model across Desktop and Web
- Web workspace: Design, Dashboard (Reporting), Engineering Portal, compact shell on tablet / phone
- Cloud missions with plan entitlements on the API
- Portable
.astrolabcontainer (import / export) - First analysis catalogue for coverage, links, networks, latency, power, lifetime, and station-keeping envelopes
Platforms¶
| Host | In 0.1.0 |
|---|---|
| Web | astrolab.stellor.space — Trial, cloud library, analyses in STELLOR cloud |
| Desktop | Native workspace, analyses on your machine, same tree and file |
Side-by-side: Desktop vs web.
In this build¶
Mission and assets. Scenario, orbit design wizard, attitude, constraints, Walker constellations, facilities, vehicles, AOIs, sensors, antennas, transmitters / receivers, solar arrays, batteries. Propulsion is documented as a preview only — not in Beta 0.1.0.
Analyses (each page states its 0.1.0 depth):
| Analysis | What 0.1.0 delivers |
|---|---|
| Coverage | Continuous grid, Discrete demand (including facility tasking), Static sites |
| Link | Access windows; optional RF budget |
| Connection network | Operational mesh (ground + ISL edges) and access cache |
| Routing / Path | Unique feasible A→B strands on that mesh (enumeration, not a ranked optimum) |
| Latency | Acquirer → facility store-and-forward / bent-pipe (scan, EO, radar, IoT, detection). ISL relay is not in 0.1.0 |
| Power | First energy-balance cut: arrays, packs, scheduled loads |
| Lifetime | Uncontrolled decay to re-entry (DSST, scalar ballistic coefficient) |
| Station keeping | Analytical Budget: LEO altitude deadband + GEO EW/NS |
| Dashboard plots | Charts and tables from a completed run |
Documentation. This site (MkDocs) is the user-facing reference for 0.1.0. Flight dynamics kernel: Orekit 13.1 — Flight dynamics. Licenses: Open source.
Not in this build¶
These are out of 0.1.0 on purpose. Later trains (starting 0.2.0) will add depth; do not plan a study around them yet.
- Latency ISL relay (Use CN nodes as relay)
- Power payload-coupled loads and extra source / storage types
- Lifetime attitude-varying area and numerical re-entry
- Station-keeping high fidelity: ground-track, orbit-tube / LEO box on the ground, propulsion coupling
- Routing optimal / ranked strands
- Propulsion subsystem editor (chemical / electrical)
- Self-serve Stripe checkout for paid Web plans (rolling out; Trial needs no card)
Web plan caps (scenario length, Discrete N, constellation size, …) apply as in Plans and entitlements. Hitting a cap is not a product defect.
Feedback¶
This is an evaluation build. Send issues, scope questions, and feature requests via STELLOR contact (topic: ASTROLAB). Include the version Beta 0.1.0, host (Web or Desktop), and the analysis or asset involved.
