Legal and evaluation terms

Where the contract lives — Beta 0.1.0

This documentation describes how ASTROLAB works. It is not a licence, SLA, warranty, or substitute for the in-product clickwrap. Simulation pages (coverage, link, latency, power, lifetime, station-keeping) are method notes for an evaluation build — they do not certify results.

Written PoC / Enterprise Named customer, extra features, 30-day PoC, etc. Signed contract. Prevails over self-serve trial terms where it so states.

First login on the Web app shows the full Evaluation Agreement. Acceptance is stored on the account (version + timestamp + document hash). Re-read it in Engineering Portal → Preferences.

The version string you see in Supabase (v1) is TERMS_ACCEPTANCE_VERSION in webApp/frontend/src/legal/legalDocuments.ts. It states a fifteen (15) day trial. Frozen copies of each generation live in webApp/frontend/src/legal/archive/. Bump to v2 when you want users to clickwrap again; old rows stay.

Trial protection (Beta 0.1.0)

  • Software is AS IS / AS AVAILABLE. No uptime SLA. Defects are not guaranteed to be fixed.
  • You must independently verify every analysis result before any design, commercial or operational decision.
  • STELLOR aggregate liability for trial / unpaid / evaluation use is €0.00, to the maximum extent permitted by law (fraud / dolo and other mandatory Spanish rules cannot be excluded).
  • Licence is evaluation-only (individual or company): test whether ASTROLAB fits your workflow and whether future paid versions may be of interest. Not a commercial licence; not customer deliverables or paid third-party work unless a paid plan or written contract says otherwise.
  • You own mission data; STELLOR owns the software and feedback.
  • Law of Spain, courts of Madrid.

What must change for a commercial (paid / GA) release

Do not treat the trial Evaluation Agreement as the paid contract. When checkout or GA ships:

  1. New product label (drop or qualify “Beta / Evaluation”) and a new acceptance version — paid users clickwrap again; the trial row stays in the log.
  2. Paid Terms: price, tax, renewal, cancellation, refunds, invoices.
  3. Liability cap for paid use = amounts paid in the period (already sketched in Web Terms §12), not €0 unless you keep evaluation SKUs free.
  4. SLA only if you actually commit one; until then keep “reasonable efforts / no credits”.
  5. Privacy: payment processor, invoices, longer retention.
  6. Marketing pages: keep indicative prices; the in-product Terms remain the contract.
  7. Docs: update this page and the footer version string.

Desktop remains a separate licence.
