Coverage Workflow¶
This tutorial configures a basic coverage analysis.
Objective¶
Compute access from a spacecraft or sensor to a grid of ground points and visualize the result as a scalar coverage field.
Procedure¶
- Create a spacecraft with a valid propagator.
- Optionally attach a sensor with a conical or rectangular FoV.
- Create a Coverage Analysis asset.
- Select the source asset.
- Select global coverage, a bounding box, or an AOI.
- Choose grid granularity.
- Set time step and minimum access duration.
- Run the analysis.
- Open coverage plots and reports.
Parameter Guidance¶
| Parameter | Starting value | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Time step | 30 to 120 s | Good first-pass performance. |
| Grid granularity | 2 to 5 deg | Good first-pass global/AOI density. |
| Minimum duration | 5 to 30 s | Removes tiny sampling artifacts. |
| Bisection tolerance | 1 s | Reasonable interval boundary accuracy. |
Interpretation¶
Coverage heat maps are duration-based by default. Dark or zero regions may mean no access, missing FoV alignment, overly strict constraints, or insufficient time span.
