Coverage Metric¶
Coverage Metric assets are child analysis assets under Coverage Analysis. They represent derived quantities computed from coverage results rather than independent physical objects.
Role in ASTROLAB¶
| Workflow | Coverage metric role |
|---|---|
| Coverage reporting | Defines which coverage quantity should be summarized. |
| Plotting | Provides scalar values for maps, tables, or charts. |
| Analysis tree organization | Lives under a Coverage Analysis asset. |

Typical Metric Concepts¶
Coverage metric definitions can represent quantities such as:
| Metric concept | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Access duration | Total time a point is covered. |
| Access count | Number of access intervals. |
| Gap statistics | Time between coverage opportunities. |
| Percent coverage | Fraction of the analysis interval with access. |
Notes¶
- A Coverage Metric depends on a parent Coverage Analysis.
- It should not recompute access geometry directly.
- It should consume existing coverage payloads and produce derived values for reports or plots.
